Born out of her love for eye-catching colourful gemstones, plus a keen interest in jewellery and design, Monica Vinader set up her eponymous jewellery brand in 2002. With the initial idea being to create a range that was wearable, desirable and well-priced without being disposable and throwaway she wanted her designs to be worn every day.  Perfectly summing up her approach to jewellery, Monica’s most treasured item from her lifelong collection is her engagement ring.  Designed with her husband, they wanted to create a fantastic piece that would suit her lifestyle and one that she could wear all the time and that would suit every occasion.  She’s worn it every day since. While Norfolk may seem the unlikely location for an award winning contemporary jewellery brand, it’s not only the company’s home but it’s also a source of great design inspiration for Monica.

Fuelling her creativity further, she is also hugely influenced by the ever changing natural world and through her extensive travels abroad including time spent in remote parts of Chile, Mexico and Argentina. Involved on all levels throughout from design to production, Monica’s passion clearly shines through every exceptional piece and all of the brand’s stones are cut from rough in the same factory to ensure that they retain their own charm and individuality.  Experimenting with cuts as well as working with frequently overlooked stones such as Labradorite, Monica believes that each stone has its own personality and that its ‘flaws’ and marks are what make it truly unique.  It’s this attention to detail and the faceted cuts of the coloured stones that give individual styles their organic and distinct feel.
